The Lion and the Mouse

Once upon a time, in a quiet part of the jungle, a mighty Lion lay asleep under the dappled shade of a tree.

A tiny little Mouse was scurrying around nearby, when unexpectedly, he came upon the mighty Lion.

Frightened, and in a haste to get away, he ran right over the Lion’s paw.

The lion woke up with a loud roar!
“WHO DARES DISTURB MY NAP?”, he growled.

The little mouse trembled, “I’m so sorry, mighty lion! I didn’t mean to wake you. Please spare my life and some day, I will surely repay you!”

The lion laughed at the idea that a mouse could ever help him. But he felt generous and let the mouse go.

A few days later, the lion was walking through the jungle when—snap!—he stepped into a hunter’s trap.

A strong net fell over him, and no matter how much he roared and pulled, he couldn’t escape.

Just then, the little mouse heard the lion’s roar. He rushed over and saw the Lion trapped.

“Don’t worry, I’ll help you!” the mouse squeaked.

Immediately, he started nibbling and gnawing at the ropes with his tiny teeth.

Bit by bit, the net came apart, and soon the Lion was free!

Then he smiled with relief and said, “Thank you, little friend. I see now, that even the smallest creature can make a big difference.”

A little act of kindness by the Lion had come back to save him.

From that day on, the lion and the mouse were the best of friends.

The end.
